Jonathan Woodward
Are you a graphic designer or illustrator? Have you considered going on your own and living somewhere cheaper and more fun? Jonathan Woodward has been there and done that. Jonathan began his digital nomadic lifestyle in 2007. He quickly acquired clients and surpassed his old full-time income. Jonathan is inspired by traveling. He uses the digital nomadic lifestyle to his advantage.
Objective
Travel. Observe what he likes about the places he travels to. Settle down in one eventually.
Background
Jon is a graphic designer. He worked for seven years as an in-house graphic designer. He has designed for corporations like Barclays Bank and Match Group.
He started his own graphic design company: the Jonathan Woodward Studio. He started it in September 2006. He compiled a set of art pieces and held his first gallery. He sold several art pieces and received commissions from new clients. He quickly surpassed his old full-time income.
Travels
Jonathan realized that he did not need to live in the UK to fulfill his clients’ requests. He and his wife Lea—a popular digital nomad—moved to Panama. They began traveling around the world. They lived in Panama, Buenos Aires, Grenada, and Toronto in 2007. They lived in South Africa and Dubai in 2008.
Income
The nomadic lifestyle inspires Jonathan. He gets “constant visual stimulation and inspiration from the vastly different cultures he collides with” on his travels.
